Single stopper
The end of a really large line may be too stiff to
make a proper bend. In this case, a pole hitch might
work instead (eg studding sail bend). Alternatively,
this ‘stopper’, traditionally used to attach a block to
a shroud, also does do the job rather well.
1 Take a turn with the thin line around the standing part of the thick line.
