Multiplait eye splice
With its multiple strands and confusing weave,
you might think multiplait is impossible to splice.
But it can be done. The secret is to identify the right-
from the left-twisting strands (there are four of
each). Group them together into pairs, so you’re
already down to four ‘double’ strands, and it’s plain
sailing.
1 Seize the line, allowing about 12 times its own diameter. Separate the
strands into two right-twisting and two left-twisting pairs, using different
coloured electrical tape.
