2 - CREDIT RECOVERY & GRADE REPLACEMENT - Offered at no cost to our PBSD students ❖ Credit Recovery
Students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to recover credit for courses in which they did not earn a passing grade during the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Credit recovery courses will take place through the Edgenuity Courseware program, and will be monitored by a Plum Borough School District teacher or a PA certified teacher. Students will work in an asynchronous environment to complete their coursework for these online classes. To learn about asynchronous learning, click here.
Students must earn a passing grade in the credit
recovery course(s) to earn credit. The new grade earned will replace the student’s original grade in the course for the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year due to the pandemic. The credit recovery grade will replace the original failing grade on the student’s transcript, and will count towards the overall QPA.
Credit recovery courses are offered at no cost to our PBSD students and families for the summer of 2021. Information on registration and start/end dates for credit recovery courses will be made available during the fourth marking period of the current school year. ❖ Grade Replacement
Students in grades 7-12 that wish to retake a course during the summer for the purpose of improving the grade earned during the 2019-2020 or the 2020-2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic may do so with a grade replacement course. Grade replacements are offered at no cost to our PBSD students and families during the summer, and is only possible if the course is offered through the credit recovery listings. Credit can only be earned once for a course. The updated final grade on the transcript will reflect the higher of the two courses, and the lower grade shall be removed from the student’s transcript. Students must receive approval from school administration for this option prior to the student scheduling the course.
*Credit Recovery and Grade Replacement Courses ARE NOT NCAA-approved due to the condensed format. It is the student's responsibility to review NCAA policies to ensure they are academically eligible and fulfill all requirements set by the NCAA.
