A note from the production team:

Everyone will always remember where they were the day school shut down in 2020
due to COVID-19. For the WHS Theater Department, the shutdown happened just 5
days before the opening night of our spring musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County
Spelling Bee”. Over a year later, we are now once again 5 days out from opening
night of “The Addams Family”. We have all faced so much adversity over the last year,
which is why we are more determined than ever to live up to the saying “the show
           must go on!”

At its core, “The Addams Family” is a show about love and family. It’s a testament
to the fact that all families look different. Families are of course your blood-relatives,
but families can also be forged through friendship and trial. In other words, “family”
           means something different to everyone!

The Addams Family has such love, fierceness and dedication to their past, present
and future. Throughout the show we get a glimpse into how they are tested, and how
they eventually triumph, as changes begin to seep into the walls of their home and
hearts. In the end these changes allow their hearts to grow. They adapt and learn that
change, while sometimes scary, can bring about beautiful new possibilities.

This amazing cast, crew and pit have seen change and adversity brought about
by a once-in-a-generation pandemic that caused so much disruption and chaos
in their young lives. However, we have had the distinct honor of watching these
students not only rise to the occasion but thrive despite these challenges! Together
we faced trying to sing, dance and act in restricting masks, maintaining 6-feet socially
distancing during rehearsals, a relocation of our musicians due to a non-functional
hydraulic pit, plexiglass divisions and learning choreography via a virtual instructor.
This is certainly not the show we imagined it could be, but it’s become something
even better. In addition to an amazing production, it’s also become a testament to
the hearts and minds of our students, and their willingness and ability to persevere
no matter what life throws at them. We could not be prouder! Witnessing what these
students have been able to accomplish has been the privilege of a lifetime!

Once you’re a part of the Demon Drama Club, you are family for life! We hope you
enjoy our family’s production of “The Addams Family”.
