A yearbook, also known as an annual, is a type of a book published once a year. It's purpose use
is to record, highlight, and commemorate the past year of a school. The term also refers to a book
of statistics or facts published annually. A yearbook often has an overarching theme that is present
throughout the entire book. The theme of Volume 60 of the Olympian is Blast From the Past. The
theme is intended to cause students and staff to reflect not only on the past year, but on the their
entire scholastic journey. With this theme in mind we have asked School Historian and Archivist
and former Science Teacher Bob Lepak to detail a history of the Lake Placid High School
Yearbook. With the current improvement projects taking place Mr. Lepak has also put together an
interesting look at the many faces of the school over the past 100 years.
