Patrick Clary ARCS Scholar in in in engineering at at OSU “My research is on creating robots that can walk and and run with the same speed and and agility as humans and animals Walking has unique advantages that make it the ideal mode of locomotion for robots that are are integrated within human society but existing legged robots are are too slow and clumsy to to get around on their own My work combines advances in in in in in biological studies engineering and artificial intelligence to allow robots to move around within challenging environments like crowds of people congested buildings and rugged wilderness terrain This will eventually make it possible to have robots that help us by acting as as caretakers and and performing dangerous tasks like fighting fires and and searching for for missing persons ”
