cancer tumor growth, survival, and potential
therapeutic vulnerabilities.
Grace Shirota
The Kathleen Ames/OSU Endowment Scholar
OSU College of Engineering, Mechanical and
Robotics
Grace is exploring human-robot interactions and
the benefits of robotic systems in workplaces and
homes, with applications in manufacturing and
domestic settings to enhance efficiency, safety,
and quality of life.
Michelle Turney
The Barbara Giesy/OHSU Nursing Endowment
Scholar
OHSU School of Nursing
Michelle’s work addresses fetal malposition and
labor biomechanics to improve labor outcomes
and reduce invasive interventions, continuing
her work as a nurse midwife.
Trent VanHawkins
The Lynne and David Bangsund Scholar
OSU College of Science, Statistics
Trent’s work links statistics, the environment,
and public health. His research will add to
our understanding of how health and disease
patterns vary across places and over time.
