   Degree:
Cedric Hagen
The ARCS Foundation Oregon Chapter Scholar
Oregon State University, College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences
Cedric studies global biogeochemical cycles in
the ancient Earth, with a focus on carbon cycle dynamics and spatial correlation at the dawn of life.
He incorporates both modeling and field work to better understand peculiar periods of Earth history. This work elucidates Earth climate and biogeochemistry extremes, the evolution of life, and the search for extraterrestrial life. Apart from his research, Cedric enjoys hiking, traveling, music, and politics.

Degree:
Shannon Hennessey
The ARCS Foundation Oregon Chapter Scholar
Oregon State University, College of Science, Integrative Biology
Shannon studies the importance of predator-prey interactions in shaping communities on the rocky Oregon shores, using predatory snails with highly variable feeding behaviors as a model system. Shannon aims to better understand how variation in predator diet choice affects the resilience of ecological communities, so we can better predict their responses to environmental change. Paige Hovenga
The Sally & Cecil Drinkward Scholar
Oregon State University,
College of Engineering,
School of Civil and Construction Engineering
Paige is studying how natural, coastal dunes respond to and recover from major storm events including hurricanes and nor’easters. Her research will help better predict vulnerability to coastal flooding hazards and implications related to climate change and sea level rise. In her free time, Paige enjoys reading classic fiction, climbing, and floating the Willamette River with friends.
