Degrees:
Lara Jacobs
The ARCS Foundation Oregon Chapter Scholar
Oregon State University, College of Forestry,
Forest Ecosystems and Society
Lara’s dissertation focuses on the ecological and pathogenic impacts of outdoor recreation on Tribal treaty lands managed by the National Park Service.
Her research provides the first cultural focus in recreation ecology, expands recreation impacts to
the microbial level, increases the nascent recreation literature relevant to marine environments, and provides information about how outdoor recreation may impact Tribal subsistence foods. Lara is a citizen of the Muscogee Creek Nation.

Degree:
Stephen Kristy
The ARCS Foundation Oregon Chapter Scholar
Oregon State University, College of Engineering, Chemical Engineering
Stephen studies catalytic technologies used for after- treatment abatement in diesel vehicle exhaust systems. He studies the properties of bimetallic alloys made of Palladium and Copper to understand the mechanisms in place which allow these alloys to oxidize pollutants at lower temperatures compared to conventional catalysts. His goal is to develop low temperature oxidation design parameters for all oxidation catalysts. Stephen enjoys fishing, camping, and getting outside with his dog when not in the lab.

M. Kelsey Lane
The Ogg/OSU Endowment Scholar
Oregon State University,
College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences
Kelsey studies the ecology and microbial interactions of tiny marine plankton called foraminifera across the Pacific. She regularly goes to sea in research vessels. Her research has implications for our understanding of climate change because foraminifera are used to reconstruct the climate of ancient oceans. When not in the lab or in the field, she likes to mountain bike, ski, hike, paddle and enjoy the Oregon outdoors. Kelsey is also plays fiddle and viola.
