Supporting our Students – The SRC led an effort to reach out to our two Ukrainian-American ARCS Scholars, Tanya Korzun, and Milana Krush. Both students are first-year ARCS Scholars at OHSU. We sent supportive messages and delivered care baskets to these students.
Scholar Defenses – Several Scholar Alums had virtual dissertation defense presentations this past year. Thanks to Jamie Anderson for sending out Mosaico notices on dates and locations. Thanks also to Mary Lou Mate who sends congratulatory cards to scholars who defended their theses. All members are encouraged to attend at least one dissertation defense each year to help celebrate this big accomplishment of our scholars. The scholars are very appreciative when we attend, and members get quite an education!
New Member-New Scholar Liaison Program – In the second year of this program, the SRC worked closely with the Member Relations Committee to link new Chapter scholars with new members to enhance
both the scholar and member connection to ARCS. New members were
asked to make quarterly contact with the scholars. These connections continue to provide an
important conduit between ARCS and ARCS Chapter scholars and will prove to be beneficial for
everyone.
