The Eagle Hall & Ashfold Side pheasant and partridge Shoot and our two Moors are approximately 25 minutes drive
from the Shoot at Ripley Castle.
Directions for Hardcastle Moor and Shoot Box
Traveling from Harrogate/Ripley on the B6165 to Pateley Bridge.
Drive through Pateley Bridge on B6265 towards Grassington. Travel through Greenhow Village and after the last house
you will see the rough moorland white grass over the dry stone walls on both sides of the road. On seeing the moorland
grass after 100 yards turn right onto the moorland track through a black painted wooden gated entrance set back from
the road (if you reach Stump Cross Caverns you have missed the turning).
Travel slowly down the track for approximately ⅓ mile and you will find the Shoot Box.
Traveling from Grassington on the B6265 towards Pateley Bridge, look for Stump Cross Caverns on the right hand
side, travel a further ¼ mile and the track to the Moor is on the left hand side through the set back black painted wooden
gated entrance.
The moorland track which has recently been resurfaced is suitable for normal two wheel drive cars up to the Shoot Box
provided you drive slowly, it is not a race track for four wheel drive vehicles!. There is ample space for safe parking
all day at the Shoot Box.
Please keeP the Gate onto the Moor closed at all tiMes.
Directions for Heathfield Moor and The Bridge Inn, Low With Road, Pateley Bridge and The Sportsman’s
Arms, Wath
Traveling from Harrogate/Ripley on B6165 to Pateley Bridge.
After driving over the river bridge in Pateley Bridge turn right to Ramsgill, there is a garage at this road junction. After
approximately 1 mile you will see the Water Mill and The Bridge Inn on your left hand side. Staying on the road go
over the narrow bridge and you will see a signpost to Heathfield.
For the Sportsman’s Arms stay on the main road for ¾ mile and you will see a signpost for Wath, turn right over a
narrow bridge.
For Heathfield Moor, 200 yards after The Bridge Inn turn left to Heathfield and after 100 yards take the right fork up
the made up single track road. Travel up the road passing a number of houses for approximately 1 mile. You will then
see a barn on the right hand side near to the road.
Just before this barn you turn left up an unmade gravel track. There are five gateways and three gates are normally
closed. After approximately ¾ mile you will come to a large Pump House.
All normal two wheel drive vehicles should be parked at the Pump House for the day. If you travel in a car you should
ensure you make arrangements for someone to meet you to take you onto the Moor in a four wheel drive vehicle. Four
wheel drive cars should be fine but this is at your own risk.
From the Pump House you travel up a steep moorland track on to the Moor and to the Shoot Box. Please note that it
will take approximately 25 minutes to travel from where you turn left at the Heathfield sign to arrive at the Shoot Box.
However we do not propose using the Shoot Box on Heathfield Moor so access to Heathfield Moor will be via
Hardcastle Moor.
