CORE PROGRAMS

Bobby, Sharon and Lady had a productive Zoom meeting with people from Scholarship America regarding these scholarships. (See report attached.)
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PROGRAMS
• Distributions as of April 16, 2024 - $ 700,000
• Robeson Community College and University of North Carolina - Pembroke
Bobby is visiting these two schools in the JSF entrepreneurship scholarship program this month. Watch for reports in the May Monthly Report.
• Gonzaga University
Our own Angelique Albert will be the commencement speaker for Gonzaga’s graduation on Saturday, May 11th.
DISCRETIONARY PROGRAMS
• Distributions as of April 16, 2024 - $ 835,717
• March meeting grants
Grant agreement letters have gone out to The Bedford School, Eye to Eye and Weingarten Children’s Center. Negotiations are underway with Clarke Schools regarding their revised annual goals and matrix for accomplishing those goals.
Grant agreement letters have been sent to the 8 Director Discretionary grant recipients. Of these, 7 have been returned and funded.
The thank you grant to the University of Florida has been fully executed and funded. They requested that the $20,000 be used for unanticipated needs of the Disability Resource Center at the University of Florida and/or needs of University of Florida students with disabilities.
• Take Stock/Johnson Scholars
April is End of Year Celebrations month with celebrations at all 12 high schools. Tommy, Lady and Sharon, individually, will be joining in the celebrations at 8 of the schools. Lady will be attending the College Decision Day dinner on May 1st which will be a first time ever special evening of celebrating graduates’ college choices. Lastly, staff will be participating in the big Graduation ceremony on May 13th.
• University of New Brunswick
Tommy, Sharon, Malcolm (via Zoom) and Lady met with Marcie Nixon, Associate Director for Principal Gifts at the University of New Brunswick, during her recent trip to
the West Palm Beach area to visit with UNB alumni. Marcie shared that the Promise Partnership in St.
John is doing well, and the scholarship and bursary endowment that JSF is helping to build is helping
3 students pursue their studies at UNB. One of the students, Hussein Al Ali, will be featured in a University publication later this year.
