PROGRAM NOTES
CORE PROGRAMS
• Distributions as of October 18, 2023 - $2,900,000
• Scholarships for UPS employees’ children
Bobby, Lady and Sharon had a positive conversation with Valerie Olude at UPS regarding how best to market the availability of scholarships. She is committed to talking with others there at the headquarters office regarding a multitude of internal communications with their employees. She is confident that we will see an uptick in numbers this coming application season.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PROGRAMS
• Distributions as of October 18, 2023 - $942,802
• Entrepreneurship Scholarship Representatives’ meeting
We had a great annual meeting in Scottsdale. Look for a full report in the November Monthly Report.
• Site visits
Rick and Bobby, at the Grant Program Committee’s instruction, started contacting the endowment schools where there might be opportunities for additional funding by going to Turtle Mountain Community College and United Tribes Technical College. (See attached reports)
Rick and John also visited several schools on their way to Scottsdale. Look for those reports in the November Monthly Report.
DISCRETIONARY PROGRAMS

• Elevation Scholars
The grant agreement with Elevation Scholars has been fully executed. We quickly received this email from Manager of Development Mariel Mejia:
Just last week, Scott mentioned that were well on our way to attaining the funds needed for this year’s grant. I am thrilled to share that we have identified a partner that will fully match your 2023 gift!
The KPMG foundation has graciously awarded Elevation Scholars a multi-year grant. This is a brand-new community relationship that we have been pursuing for quite some time. Thanks to our spectacular team, targeted engagement, the addition of an amazing KPMG staff member to the board, and the harnessed power of the JSF matching gift--we have secured a 4-year grant in the amount of $150,000 annually.
That grant was made by KPMG and we have funded the match to Elevation Scholars for 2023.
• Grant Agreements
The agreement with Bender Leadership has been executed. They indicated that they will be able to meet their match requirement this year. The Agreement with the University of Arizona is in the works. Operation Jump Start has advised that they will not have their match until early 2024.
