SUSF SPRING REPORT (2)
General Summary
During the 2023-2024 academic year, State University System (SUS) institutions awarded 772 Theodore R. and Vivian M. Johnson Scholarships totaling over $1.3 million to undergraduate students with disabilities. Compared to the 2022-2023 scholarship disbursement for fall and spring, $133,097.73 more funds were disbursed in 2023-2024. As shown in Exhibit 1, the number of Johnson Scholarship recipients soared to 772 in the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024. Finally, SUS institutions reported that 71 Johnson Scholars graduated with a baccalaureate degree during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Johnson Scholarship Awards for the 2023-2024 Academic
Year
Institutions award the Johnson Scholarship in the fall and spring semesters and, if funding is available, also in the summer. As shown in Exhibit 2, in fall 2023, SUS institutions awarded Johnson Scholarships to 409 recipients; in spring 2024, 363 scholarships were awarded. In the spring of 2024, 30% of scholarship recipients were juniors, and 40% were seniors. Exhibit 3 provides a breakout of Johnson Scholars by class level and institution for spring 2024.
