SUNY ULSTER SITE VISIT REPORT (2)
SUNY Ulster is also working on securing donations for an emergency fund for students. The Community Cares Student Emergency Fund, in memory of President Emerita Barbara A. Adams, provides funding for emergency grants, loans, books, housing, and scholarships for SUNY Ulster students experiencing material or emotional loss and in financial need. Faculty and staff know that when a student misses class, it could be over the need to cover $500 for car repairs.
Lorraine Salmon, Foundation Executive Director, announced her impending retirement on May 30, 2024. They have named Barbara Caldwell as the interim Executive Director while they search for Lorraine’s replacement. Heather Eckardt, Alumni Specialist and Administrator for the Foundation Board of Directors, stopped by to say hello and is working on plans to engage their alum population.
SUNY Ulster is incredibly grateful to JSF for our investment in the PCS program. It has encouraged donations to student scholarships and created a program they have shared with the other 30 state community colleges in the SUNY system. PCS students who graduate high school and attend SUNY Ulster for their 2-year degrees will serve as a group to track their success, as will PCS students who graduate and choose to attend a 4-year institution. Their gratitude was evident.
L-R: Jenn Zell, Chief of Staff, Alison Buckley, Ed.D., President, Bobby Krause, Ivy Cabrera, PCS Sponsored Student, David Blaikie, Nancy Clarke, PCS Administrative Program Coordinator, Lisa Loomis and Lorraine Salmon, Foundation Executive Director.
