Mass spectrometry is a highly sensitive method for detecting organic compounds. After
ionization of organic molecules, under the action of electromagnetic field in mass
analyzer, mass spectrometry maps are generated to accurately determine organic
compounds with different molecular weights. Its characteristic is that separation and
identification are carried out simultaneously. Therefore, MS technology is widely used
in the chemical field and plays a very important role in the identification of organic
compounds. However, for complex natural products with similar components, a large
number of samples need to be synthetically analyzed in order to reach an objective
conclusion. We randomly selected several plant oils and Saw palmetto oil for
preliminary comparative study. It is considered that the identification of saw palmetto
oil by MS is very difficult and lots of work needs to be done.
