Operational procedures
- Engine on fire but running:
Give pwr. to 1800 rpm, taxi to a suitable location, let the engine run for a
few minutes, turn off the fuel at the tap/fuel selector. Take the fire
extinguisher with you and put out the fire if it is still burning.
6.6.3.2 Electrical fire
If you have tried to look under the dashboard, you will have seen the bundles
of wires hidden there.
If a short circuit occurs, the heat generated can result in an electrical fire.
Normally it just smokes and smells bad.
You must now, in the order listed:
1) Turn off the main switch (power from the battery and generator)
2) Turn off the fresh air/cabin heat that can enter the lower part of the cabin
3) Open fresh air from high-positioned fresh air intakes, if necessary
If the fire/smoke does not stop, use the halon extinguisher.
After extinguishing, ventilate the cabin, land as soon as possible.
6.6.3.3 Cabin fire
If a passenger has been fiddling with matches or a lighter and has ignited
something flammable, put out the fire.
Cover it so that it goes out. If necessary, use the bottle of water from the pocket
in the back of the seat! (because it is a good idea to have a bottle of water with
you, it can also be used for heartburn )
