Principles of flight

                   - Angle of attack: The angle between the chord and the free wind.

                   - Setting angle (not shown): The angle between the chord and the aircraft's

longitudinal axis. It only matters in aircraft construction.

                   - Chord: The longest line from the leading edge to the trailing edge of the

                      profile.

                   - Midline: A (curved) line halfway between the upper and lower surfaces of

                      the wing.

                   - Profile thickness: The thickness of the profile at its thickest point,

expressed as a percentage of the chord length.

                   - Curvature: The greatest perpendicular distance from the chord to the

midline. Measured as a percentage of the chord.

               5.3.6 Lift

               When an airflow passes over

               a wing, lift is generated.

               This force acts perpendicular

to the free airflow and the

               wing.
