Aircraft general knowledge

After full refueling, the aircraft must not lean to the left, because then fuel will

flow out of the vent pipe, and in one night you can lose 15 liters or more!

The normal position is BOTH, and during take-off and landing the selector must

                be in this position.

During flight, the selector can be set to L or R if there is an imbalance between

                the tank contents.

Fuel selectors come in many versions.

Some selectors have 2 positions, one for

the right and one for the left tank.

There may be a middle position, which can

                be either OFF or BOTH.

Some may have 4 positions: Left (L), Right (R), Both and Off.

When the selector is in Both, you can consider the 2 tanks as “connected tanks”.

The special thing about this is that the fuel level in such tanks will be the same

height in relation to the MSL and parallel to the MSL. This means that if the

selector is in Both and you fill up one tank, fuel will flow to the other tank.

The normal position is BOTH, and during takeoff and landing, the selector must

be in this position. During flight, the selector can be set to L or R if there is an

                imbalance between the tank contents.

8.5.3.4 Practical use of fuel systems

                 1) We start by taxiing driving the aircraft to the refueling facility.

                 2) The aircraft is connected to the refueling facility / tanker with a ground

connection so that there is no voltage difference between them.
