I have been working in KFC for a long time already and be-
sides other tasks I am in charge of the charity and volunteer proj-
ects. Frankly speaking, at the start of my job I never thought that
one day I would get involved into charity. But the organization
had an intention to help the society and we got a task to define
the directions and the projects that were to be implemented.
When we spoke about charity, I remembered a distant year of
1988 when a terrible earthquake hit Armenia taking away 25 thou-
sand lives. Then the whole world responded on the very next day
and people started sending help literally from all over the world.
And it was then, when I was still a student, that I saw with my
own eyes what gratuitous aid and charity meant. I myself have al-
ways been ready to join the good deeds and help those in need.
In 2013 we created our first group of volunteers (it was small
then: 2 leaders and 6 volunteers), studying various aid options
and projects. The first project that we launched was “Aiding the
Orphans and Children with Disabilities”, dealing with orphan-
ages, and it still continues today. Then, new projects appeared
bringing new volunteers  – thus volunteering was growing and
              developing in our company.
I am glad to mention that the participation of employees does
not only allow them to do something good but also helps them-
selves. To some of them it gives the opportunity to easily express
their thoughts, to others – the opportunity to develop relation-
ships and networks, to study during the projects, to multiply,
share and practice their experience. I believe it is very important!
a volunteer creates in oneself and in those around a different per-
ception of life, a different ‘modus vivendi’ or lifestyle, maintaining
the national traditions and respect to others. It is important that
a new generation is brought up in the spirit of mutual help and
not aggression. The main thing is to remember that charity is not
PR, but – aid, love, selfless giving and warmth.
