LE JARDIN DE LA MARSEILLAISE
Espace de verdure ensoleillée avec jardin de jeux pour enfants. L’été à certaines heures de l’après-midi, des jets d’eau implantés au sol permettent aux enfants de se rafraichir en jouant.

LA COLLINE PIC CHABAUD
La colline Pic Chabaud se dresse à côté de la col- line du Griffon où se tient la Forteresse des Comtes de Provence. Il est d’ailleurs possible de voir le châ- teau depuis ce point de vue. Entièrement recouverte de pins, un parcours sportif permet à toute la famille de faire de l’exercice. A son sommet, la statue de la Vierge surplombe la cité depuis 1867. Il fallut toute l’énergie des hommes, des charretiers et des che- vaux, pour amener les 1860 kg de la statue au sommet de la colline. Installée sur un socle de pierre de taille, elle culmine à dix mètres de hauteur. Sur le piédestal de la statue est gravée l’inscription : « Posueront me custodem » (ils m’ont instituée leur gardienne).

MONUMENTS
THE COUNTS OF PROVENCE FEUDAL CASTLE
On the summits of Griffon hill stands the medieval castle.
It was built there for its strategic location during the 13th and 15th c. This former site of the Counts of Provence is registered as «Historical Monument». During the guided tour, you will discover castle arichitecture and the story of Benoit XIII, an extraordinary pope. The garden is an invitation for walking.
THE ST DENYS CHURCH
The St Denys church hides behind its 19th c. facade, a giant Roman nave and also
a beautiful Gothic heart. Woodwork and paintings of Mignard (a French artist) can be seen in the lateral sides naves. One of them overhung the altar of the Brotherhood of St-Eloi. A magni cent organ which belonged to the Lumière brothers can also be admired on the balcony
at the bottom of the church. The bell tower was originally
a gardian whatchtower.
The church, was until
the French Revolution
the only one «important public place»where the inhabitants could gathered. Its architecture shows the demographic evolution of
the city. This place of cult, pray, refuge in wartime,
was also the spot of the  rst Republican elections. The Chapel located in the church houses statues of the Three Marie surrended by a pictural landscape telling the main events of the Virgin.
THE FOUNTAINS
Many fountains decorate the streets of the city, among them : The Fountain of La Durance located on Place de la République : settled
in 1909, it is a tribute to the river «La Durance» in the North of Châteaurenard. Its inscription «Eici, l’aigo es d’or» means «Here, the water is gold» and shows the importance of this river. It is indeed its pipe and its water distribution on all the territory thank
