    AO board nominations include two directors, secretary
Among those nominated for election to the Academy
of Osseointegration (AO) Board of Directors at the Annual Business Meeting March 29, 2025 in Seattle, WA, will be two new at-large directors: AO Fellow Todd R. Schoenbaum, DDS, MS; and Despoina Bompolaki, DDS, MS (one-year advisory term).
Dr. Schoenbaum is professor at the Dental College of Georgia where
he trains residents and students in implant restorations. He also serves as the Director of Clinical Research and implant treatment coordinator for the college.
He has published over 70 papers, 10
chapters, and two textbooks. He is
the recipient of the scientific writing
award from the JPD. Dr. Schoenbaum is the editor-in-chief of Dentistry Review. He has a master’s in clinical research from the UCLA School of Medicine, and is a Fellow and Diplomate of the Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Bompolaki is an associate professor with tenure at the Department of Oral Rehabilitation
& Integrative Biosciences at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She joined OHSU in 2015 and was appointed to serve as the director of Clinical Restorative Dentistry in 2022.
Dr. Bompolaki is also course director
for multiple courses and serves as
the chair of the Curriculum Committee at the School of Dentistry since 2021. As a researcher, she focuses on dental implant outcomes and complication management. Her work has been internationally recognized and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Nominated for secretary is Robert R. Lemke, DDS, MD, a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon from San Antonio, TX. He holds both DDS and MD degrees from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.
Having served two full terms as
director on the board of directors
since 2019, Dr. Lemke has also
chaired the Research Submissions Committee, as well as served on the Clinical Innovations, ePosters, AO/
OF Research Grants, Annual Meeting, and Education Oversight/Advisory committees. He works as the liaison to the Membership and Young Clinicians committees. He has also served as a director on the board of the Osseointegration Foundation.
AO members participating in the Annual Business Meeting will vote on the following new full slate of officers and directors for 2025 — 2026:
