Two weeks later, in the 19 October 1988 issue of the British magazine Autocar & Motor, Luca Ciferri quoted Paolo Stanzani as saying, “that Bugatti Automobili SpA was founded in Modena on 14 October 1987, with a starting capital of £85,000 which was improved to £1.06 million on 1 February 1988, then £2.13m on 29 June.” Ciferri pointed out that “Stanzani and his team own 35 percent of the shares with Bugatti International holding the other 65 percent. He denies rumours that the French government controls Bugatti International through a company called Messier-Hispano-Bugatti.
