went on to win, ahead of Haloff, with Dexter finishing fourth behind Bill Smith in his Austin-Healey Sprite, who was first in Class HP. John Langerman in a Mini-Cooper S was the first Sedan driver to finish, seven seconds ahead of the Fiat-Abarth 1000 driven by Al Cosentino. Ray Drainville would want to forget this race as he rolled his Sunbeam Imp in the Big Bend, the car ending up on its roof in the middle of the track. Of the thirty-one cars that started, twenty-five completed the fifteen-lap race.
Race Two, a fifteen lap race for Class FP, was a repeat performance for Bob Sharp, but this time driving a Datsun SPL 311. Bob Ziegel in a MGA and Laszlo Siegmund in a Volvo P1800 gave chase in the opening laps, but Sharp lengthened his lead to take victory. Behind him Ziegel and Siegmund continued their fight, finishing second and third. The race also marked the return of Frank Cooper to driving with a Turner 950 Sports having sold his FV car a year ago.
The entry list for the Formula Vee race proved to be an embarrassment of riches for the organizers. Drivers who had delayed applying to enter the race were having to be turned away, irrespective of who they were. Consequently such well known figures as Bill Scott, Alex Dearborn and Charles Hevenor had to stay in the pits and watch the race. Following a frantic start by twenty-seven cars into the first corner the field sorted itself out. Dick Beers took the lead and ran away with the race in his Autodynamics, with John Zeitler coming in a distant second and Dick Newton in third spot.
The Class FC cars of Fred Stevenson and Roger Barr lined up alongside each other for the start of the Formula race, and tore off the line together to join an exciting battle that would end fifteen laps later with Stevenson’s Lotus the winner by less than two seconds over Barr’s
