                 Appendix I: MenadueÕs Miracle
Without question, Warwick’s finest competitive achievement occurred at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1952, when Leslie Johnson and Tommy Wisdom finished third overall in a vehicle that Roger Menadue had constructed almost from scratch in a fortnight. Although Donald Healey had declared that “nobody can make a car complete with body in less than two weeks, let alone a Le Mans racer,” the irrepressible head of the experimental department emphatically proved his employer wrong. The images in this portfolio, courtesy of Redline Restorations and Media, are a testament to Menadue’s miracle and the indomitable spirit that infused each and every employee at Warwick during the course of the 1950s and 1960s.
