FERRARI 512S MODULO
Geneva, 12 March 1970
GENESIS
One late spring morning in the year 1967, my drawing board was scattered with a myriad objects such as a curvilinear French curve, pens, pencils, cigarette butts and ashtrays, placed at the edges of a sheet of paper which had the dimensions of the dashboard of the car that would be the Rolls-Royce Camargue, the project that I was working on then. That is when an idea came to mind, one which
had been dormant on an unconscious level for some time, the craziest dream car in the world, violent, unique, inimitable, conceptually different, and with a quick sketch on the bottom right side of the sheet representing a mirror, as well as easily modular object, achievable in a car, with the addition of just the wheels. That was how the Ferrari Modulo was born on the chassis of the 512.
