DE TOMASO PANTERA (2012)
In the past, the coachbuilder had the task of giving shape to an existing chassis. Using the base of the Audi R8, I created a body deliberately inspired by the De Tomaso Pantera, the restyling of which never went into production.
The sports car concept, powered by a mid-engine V8, follows the stylistic features, proportions, and DNA of the original Pantera, adapting it to current trends. The drawings anticipated the prototype, which was made a few years ago. The project was not commissioned by the De Tomaso company, but by a private collector, who “intended to relive and materialize the dream of supercars at affordable prices, but not disdaining a one-of-a-kind model for himself.”
One of the drawings depicts the overlap with the current Audi R8, to compare the proportions of the new bodywork on the same base. Also noteworthy was the “dream car” version, with doors hinged upwards and transparent sections in “Ballistic Lexan”, in order to better see the road from the side, and to increase the excitement and pleasure of driving.
