P. 21
DALTON WATSON FINE BOOKS
UPPER: Rally driver Mike Couper
found that Bentley Mark VI and
R-Type standard steel saloons were
the perfect cars for campaigning in
the Monte Carlo Rally. This was the
R-Type, B68SR, that served him well in
the 1953 Rally.
RIGHT: R-Type B68SR again with
Mike Couper in the middle of the
group, flanked by team members Pat
Fillingham and Peter Tabor.
LOWER: Mike Couper’s book Rallying
to Monte Carlo (Ian Allan Ltd, London,
1956) which deals extensively with
rallying in Mark VI and R-Type cars –
and even a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith!
