RIGHT: A closer view of the final
rectification bay with men working
on polishing and finishing cars ready
for turning out. These are very early
Bentley Mark VIs with no chrome waist
mouldings. Their ‘Ace’ wheel discs and
radiator mascots are not yet fitted.
ON WATSON FINE BO
LOWER: This line-up of early post-war
cars was photographed behind the
Hythe Road Service Depot. Overseas
representative Group Captain Vautier
is on the right, with Sales Director Jack
E. Scott (‘JS’). The late-1947 date is too
early for the first post-war London Mo-
tor Show, nor can the cars be related
to any Earls Court exhibit. They are not
the North American Tour cars either,
and they may be export cars. Nearest
the camera is a Mark VI James Young
‘saloon coupé’, then a Silver Wraith,
a Mark VI standard steel saloon, an-
other Silver Wraith, a Mark VI Vanden
Plas (England) drophead coupé and
finally another Silver Wraith.
