THIS PAGE: The earliest post-war cars by James Young Ltd resembled, both in silhouette and in detail, the last of the firm’s pre-
war work. The upper car is B20AK, the coachbuilder’s first post-war four-door saloon, design number C.11. The lower car is
an unidentified slightly later car of the same design. The razor-edge styling with crisp swage-lines, slim windscreen pillars and
chrome-plated door window frames set these coachbuilt cars apart from the standard steel saloon.
OPPOSITE: Early post-war Bentley advertising often showed coachbuilt cars, as in the case of this advertisement in The Autocar
of April 23, 1948 which shows James Young Ltd’s design number C.11 saloon.
