echocardiogram, in the short axis view, the aorta appears widened with bulging of the dorsal and lateral borders (c). On the right
parasternal longitudinal axis view, the ascending aorta is dilated compared to the aorta at the level of the valves (d). An additional
view of the ascending aorta shows a linear hyperechoic centrally located structure (arrows) consistent with aortic dissection (e). This
patient was found to be diabetic with elevated systemic blood pressure.
