Chartered in 1812. Leading educational institution. Long prominent in training leaders of North Alabama. Occupied by Federal troops, 1862. Buildings burned, 1864.
Site o f city schools since 1882. Location used only for school purposes.
ALABAMA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION 1955
Located on the north side of Clinton Avenue between Calhoun Street and White Street (in front of East Clinton School) in Huntsville, Alabama, this Alabama Historical Association marker was sponsored by the East Clinton PTA and dedicated on April 27, 1956. The marker was refurbished in 1976.
