With the culmination of the Program Prioritization Initiative (PPI), Southern University can
envision moving into the highest echelon among Historically Black Colleges and Universities
(HBCUs). By helping us to prioritize our programs, we can reposition the University to boldly
embark on new challenges that will expand our global reach and distinguish us among our
peers.
The taskforce participation ensures that a thoughtful, transparent, and engaging process was
followed, and now is the time to reflect on our next steps of implementation. I am counting on
the entire university community to embrace these results and to redouble our efforts to fulfill
our destiny to be the premier HBCU in the nation.
Over the next days and weeks, we will engage a dialog on the specific strategic next steps. I
know I can count on the entire university to embrace the inherent challenges as we move
forward together towards a bright future for our beloved institution.
