CARE
MEMORY CARE
Programs specifically dedicated to taking care of clients needing memory
care for cognitive impairments, dementia or Alzheimer’s. There are residential
programs, outpatient, day care programs, educational and family support
services available in most communities. The services will usually include
activities and events that cater to the needs of memory care clients.
ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
The most common cause of dementia, Alzheimer’s is a degenerative,
progressive disease of the brain, characterized by loss of function and
death of nerve cells in several brain areas, leading to loss of memory
and learning.
DEMENTIA
Though not a disease, dementia is a group of symptoms that may
accompany certain diseases and/or conditions. Dementia is irreversible
when caused by disease or injury. It may be reversible when caused by
depression, alcohol, drugs, hormones etc. Dementia is the loss of intellectual
functions that interfere with the daily living of the individual.
