CONVENTIONAL & SENIOR APARTMENTS
Freedom from responsibilities of home ownership. These communities offer
accommodations and amenities designed specifically for older adults. May
offer subsidies, recreational activities but generally no assistive care.
ACTIVE ADULT
A more compact, low maintenance residence often offering aging in
place features. Access to leisure and recreational activities and generally
no assistive care.
INDEPENDENT LIVING
A variation on the above in generally a more structured environment. Onsite
social and recreational activities and again limited access to assistive care.
Wendy Barnhill
Executive Director - The Village at Southlake
Wendy is a local South Carolina girl who grew up in Gilbert. She
has stayed home and resides close to Lexington with her
five year old son Eason and husband Darrell. Wendy’s
hobbies include running, gardening, and she is a Clemson fan
who had much to cheer about this past football season! Her
background includes investment banking and life insurance, which led her to her first
position at The Village at Southlake. She started there in 2008 as the business manager.
After eight years at that position, her career changed course at The
Village at Southlake. Wendy developed such a passion for caring
for seniors, she accepted the Executive Director’s position in 2016.
As she enters her 9th year at The Village of Southlake, she has the
privilege of working with seniors each and every day!
