Meet Your Long Term
Care Ombudsman
Charlotte Terwilliger An Ombudsman is an advocate. The Ombudsmen
919-558-9401 in our region are advocates for residents living in
long term care facilities --nursing homes and adult
care homes/assisted living facilities.
They work with residents, their family members,
facility staff and public agencies to help ensure
residents’ rights, as well as their quality of care
and quality of life.

Aimee Kepler • Educating residents about their rights, and
919-558-2719 mediating disputes when residents have
difficulty exercising their rights.
Carmelita Karhoff
919-558-2714 • Presenting educational programs and
training to facility staff on residents’ rights,
sensitivity to aging issues, edler abuse
awareness and prevention, and resident
directed care.
• Providing information and referrals to the
public regarding long term care issues and
resources.
• Providing training and technical assistance
to the Community Advisory Committee
volunteers appointed by County
Commissioners.
