reflect on this year, and recognize that you can write the story next year. Band is about what you put into it, and when you give it your all, you will have the best time ever.
My Little and Grand Little, Matt and Noah: Matt, you are the embodiment of everything a trumpet player should be. A strong player, friendly, helpful, and always in good spirits. Take that and carry that with you with everything you do. I’m so proud of you! And even though I won’t be on campus next year, my little minion (Maysi) will be able watch you for me... muahaha. Noah, I’m sorry we didn’t get very close during the marching band season, but I know that the mellos take good care of you! It’s great to look across the field and see you having a great time out there. We’ll be sure to catch up soon. Now, anybody want to go to Taco Bell?
Katrina Staib: I wanted to shout you out specifically because we got to know each other pretty well this season, my consistent car buddy for when the band was on the move! I am so impressed with your leadership this season. Everybody has a role to play in the trumpet section and you so naturally found yours. I can always count on you to look after the rookies and bring such a happy energy to every game and rehearsal we had. Your enthusiasm on and off the field is truly contagious. I very much hope that you consider going out for a leadership position within the band next year. You’re a natural at it and I think you would succeed greatly at it!

-But in all seriousness, thanks for being an absolute goofball with me on the field. I had a really fun season with our shenanigans. I’ll especially miss the time I almost peed my sleeping bag during the away trip when we were being actual 5-year-olds when everybody was going to sleep. Thanks for always keeping band light-hearted, while at the same time being a prime example of what an excellent musician and marcher consists of - there are a lot of people that look up to you. Good luck next year with all your endeavors. I can’t wait to see Newark High School’s show next season with you helping out!
Steven Gelberg: Hi Stevie. It’s been a pleasure watching you as my drum major - growing as a leader, musician, and cook (yay, no more hot dogs!). I’m glad I can come home and have someone to talk to about band stuff, and get your input as the eyes of the band. You’ve really helped Maysi and I through some leadership struggles over the past two years, so thank you for that. Here’s to more Pats runs and Mario Kart!
Nick Outten: Enjoy your burger good sir!

I’ve been thinking about how I was going to try and start this for the last 4 years and even up until these last minutes I can’t think of a better way, so this word vomit will have to do.
To the UDMB:
Thank you so much for everything. Being a part of this is unlike any other experience I have ever had and presumably ever will have. Four years ago, while I loved band already, I thought I this was just some offhand decision I made to try to avoid the freshman 15. I never thought then that it would
