To the Field Staff: This group of Field Staff is so amazing. I think that we really clicked as a group and have helped change and push this band into uncharted territory. Each of you brings forth something special to this band. Keep the magic going. Find someone new to inspire. Reach out and make band special for that one rookie. I wish you all luck in whatever the future holds for you. You all are gonna rock it next year.
To Keith Blake: I want you to remember that you started the whole Kevin Jonas thing. You are the one that pulled up the picture of Kevin and said “Don’t I look like him?” I’m still convinced that you are Kevin Jonas or you are the lost fifth Jonas Brother. You’ve been an incredible addition to the Drum Major team. You have brought so much laughter to the UDMB and I think that you are going to flourish in this position. I wish you all the best in your future!
To Alyssa Rosenblum: It was really fun being you for Halloween. You have such a good aura that surrounds you. I remember when you first were selected for Drum Major and thinking: “She’s gonna do something great with this band.” You think about everyone else before yourself. I think that you are meant to do this in the future. I’m not exactly sure what your plan is, but I know that whatever you do, you are going to shine bright and spread love through it.
To Steven Gelberg: So, I might’ve started a conspiracy theory within the flutes that you are a hologram. I’m pretty sure that you don’t exist; someone so nice and amazing can’t be real. In all seriousness, you are such an incredible person. You are one of those people who just have one of those personalities that everyone can get along with. You brought such high energy to this program, and have been an incredible drum major the past two years. You have made such an impact on my life, especially in this last year. I wish you all the best in your future as a Music teacher. I know that you are going to inspire and change many lives.
To Anthony and Jess: Thank you for everything you’ve done to help push this program to the next level. I remember the first time that we as field staff heard that you two were going to come to our program. I remember being worried that y’all were ‘outsiders’ that didn’t know our program. Honestly, I think that it’s been the best thing that could’ve happened to this program. You bought such a great new perspective to this program and I am so thankful for each of you. I know that you are both going to lead amazing programs yourselves one day, and I cannot wait to see you continue to impact lives!
To Sarv: Thank you for the most amazing five years of my life. I honestly can’t believe that it’s all over. I can’t thank you enough for all the knowledge and experience that I’ve gained throughout my time in the UDMB. I have truly enjoyed my time here, and will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. I don’t have many words to say except for thank you. Thank you for everything.
To everyone else: Thank you all for creating such an amazing program this year. I am so happy and honored to have been apart of this years band. Each and every one of you makes this band special for someone. There’s going to be a brand new set of faces in August next year; You have to make it special for them. Reach out and find that one shy person in your section and make it your goal to allow them to have the best season ever. I hope that you cherish all the moments that you have left in the UDMB; The moment will be gone before you know it. I’m already counting down the days until Homecoming.
