A Year in Review
A big thank you to Mark Yandon, Cliff DeMars, the Newcomb
Highway Department and Town Maintenance employees…!!!
The COVID Pandemic of 2020 provided a year of opportunity
for the Town of Newcomb Highway Department and mainte-
nance crews to catch up on some much-needed infrastructure
upgrades, construction, and repairs. It was a good year, but
tiresome and challenging for everyone, and we still managed to
set off our July 4th Fireworks!
We put down new asphalt at the Town Hall, the Historical
Building, the Fire Hall, and the Highway garage yard. We re-
placed the roof on the Town Hall, put up a digital community
sign board, added paint stripping in the parking lot and a slate
sidewalk entrance and lighted pillars into the Town Offices.
Other projects included the construction of a new salt storage
structure (paid for with grant funding), landscaping of the Rec-
reation Field (which included a new sliding hill behind the
skating rink). Thanks to Essex County Soil and water, they do-
nated its hydro-seeder and materials to replenish the grass on
the embankments of the recreation field.
