Covered exists to help survivors forever break the bondage of trafficking. We do this through our two-year program that is trauma informed, empowerment based, and survivor informed. The program addresses the four core issues using evidence-based practices. The four core issues are:
Housing: We begin our process by assessing the needs of the survivor. Stabilization can’t happen without a safe place to stay. We are providing that space where they can begin to heal, while having their basic needs met.
Education: Each survivor learns valuable life skills through our 10-week core life skills curriculum. They will also work with an Educa- tion and Career Coordinator who will help them discover what skills are needed and what dreams they may have for their future. This may be a GED, trade school or certifications needed for that path.
Counseling: Our Clinical Director provides individual and group counseling as well as overseeing the entire care team. They will collab- orate and together with the survivor, will put together the best possible plan for the survivors healing and goals.
Community: We introduce survivors to a healthy community of other survivors and mentors where they will continue life skills classes and attend survivor events. Mentors will help survivors also build a healthy community outside of Covered as they prepare to reinte- grate into society.
We are opening our first stabilization home in January and your support helps this home to be possible for survivors! Thank you!
The Crisis Center provides free and confidential services for adults and children impacted by domestic violence
in our community. We provide a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, therapy, community-based advocacy and legal advocacy. We also provide outreach, education and prevention activities to the community. We have seen how violence that begins in the home spreads into the community. If not addressed, domestic violence is detrimental to families and the community as a whole. Our services help survivors understand the violence was not their fault, heal from the trauma they’ve experienced and move toward greater well-being. Our work would not be possible without your support!
