Caleb and Reilly are working on their Eagle Rank which is the highest rank in scouting and very hard to obtain. Logan and Heaton are working on their star rank, and Isaac Armstrong is working on his First Class rank. We are excited to welcome five new members to the ranks of Boy Scouts. We have recently moved our Webelos up from the Cub Scout Pack. Jace Howell-Soper, Jerret Burgess, Blayne Irvin, Zane Whitaker, Isaac Exner. All five scouts have earned their Arrow of Light which is the highest honor in Cub Scouting and excited to start their path to Eagle,
The Boy Scouts have gotten off to a great start this year. In July two of the young men (Caleb Hammond and Reilly Shoemaker) from our Troop attended The National Scout Jamboree. This is a once on a life time opportunity to experience a ten day long scout function with 35,000 other scouts from all over the United States. It is held in the mountains in West Virginia at The Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve. Here Caleb got to go white water rafting and both boys took part in a service project, hiking, concerts, learning about other religion and the military. Assistant Scoutmaster Jamie Edmondson went as a staff member working in the boy’s medical tent. On this trip they also got to listen to a speech by President Trump.
At our local Boy Scout camp last summer Caleb and Reilly were promoted to Fire builders in the Tribe of the Silver Tomahawk (and honor society at Camp Eastman) and Logan Hooper and Heaton Sturm were tapped out into the Tribe. Jacob Justice was promoted to Keeper of the Sacred Bundle the highest youth position. The boys for the 16th year in a row obtained a perfect camp site inspection. This is something they pride themselves on.

They had fun at the CARE skating arena for their Christmas party. We are getting ready for our Blue and Gold banquet. This is our yearly celebration of our boys and their accomplishments. This year’s theme is God Bless the Red White and Blue. The last Monday in March the boys will have their Pinewood Derby Race. This is where the boys and their parents build a car and race it. The competition becomes very intense before the night is over.
Scouts Have Fun All Year Long
The boys and leaders of both the Pack and Troop would like to thank the community for its continues support of our boys. The only thing you can make a great man out of is a boy. Without your support we would not be able to continue this great tradition. We would also like to thank the American Legion and the CARE Association for their continued support. We would also like to thank the Lion’s Club fir their generous donations.
Our local Cub Scouts have started of the year learning survival lessons and basic outdoor skills they have had special visits from the police and the ambulance, we are looking forward to tours with the fire department and conservation officer. They have sold popcorn and are currently selling pizzas and desserts, and will be selling donuts later this
spring.
The Boy Scouts of America is a service organization so if there is something we could help with please ask by contacting Jamie Edmondson or Matt Shoemaker.
