On Monday and Tuesday this week, Governor Greitens toured Missouri, including stops in Palmyra and Macon. On this tour, the Governor discussed how his budget will impact Missourians, including how his plan cuts taxes to $0.00 for about 380,000 citizens, and cuts taxes for 97% of Missourians. The Governor also indicated that this tax plan would be revenue neutral, meaning we would not loose any money over this cut. The Governor discussed how this tax plan is revenue neutral by eliminating unnecessary tax breaks and closing loopholes.
Leasing, Insurance, and Labor/Industrial Relations. This week we have heard from the departments of Corrections, Revenue, Transportation, Public Safety, Health, Mental Health, and from the Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Treasurer.

The next step in the process is hearing from the rest of the departments, and then separating into our different appropriations committees (each appropriations committee works on a few departments) to discuss specific parts of the budget. The budget committee will then come back together to craft the budget, then it goes to the House floor, and then it goes to the Senate.

This week, we had quite a few visitors come to our office. First, we had representatives from the Missouri Area Health Education Centers. Their goal is to recruit rural students to the health field in order to bring them to rural health centers, which are currently struggling to bring in young professionals.

This week, I made big steps in getting two of my bills made into law. On Monday, my two bus bills (the first, which allows for medical endorsements for two years for drivers and
the second, which allows 70 year old bus drivers to opt our of the pre trip inspection portion of the CDL renewal) were passed out of committee as consent bills, which means they will be easier to pass because they do not cost money and are not controversial.
