WIU Announces Dean’s List

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL--A total of 1433 undergraduate students enrolled at Western Illinois University were named to the 2017 Fall Dean's List. The total includes 101 students at the WIU-Quad Cities Campus.

Dec. 19, 2017 San Antonio, Texas--Major Jason Brotherton of the U.S. Army was awarded the Meritorious Service medal. The award was presented by his father, Command Sergeant Major Paul Brotherton (retired). Major Brotherton is a Clark County R-1 High School 2000 graduate and is presently deployed.

Jackson in a member of the Honors Academy at S&T and was invited to join Sigma Alpha Pi, a national leadership and honor society. Jackson is alos a member of the Formula SAE design team, which makes a scaled-down race car that competes internationally and is ranked 1st in the United State among universities including Texas A&M and Mizzou.

Renters will have the usual experience in moving through the bottomless roads, this spring.

City workers had to dig down to the depth of the pipe, then back under Main Street to reduce the damage to the road surface. After the break was dug out, a rubber-lined, stainless steel patch was bolted into place.

Presidential Primary Turnout: Clark County voters turned out in good numbers for the Tuesday, February 5 presidential primary election. Twenty-eight and a half percent of Clark County’s registered voters went to the polls. The turnout is about twice that of the 2004 primary election.

with all activity in Kahoka, and all around. Even funerals were postponed, a first for many years. Drivers were drifted in and a foot or more of snow covered everything – and under the snow, solid ice. Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday as far south as Hannibal, east to Macomb, and north into Iowa. Old fashioned winters are still with us!
Some vandals entered a room of the college building one night last week, overturned the stove and other article , and disarranged things general.
20 Years Ago February 18, 1998 School Board Discusses 8-Block:
Murry, on of the tramps who had served a 10-day sentence in county jail for stealing horses from Harkness Bros. store, on being released Monday morning, lost no time in getting drunk, and in passing Clark and Company’s store, appropriated a pair of articles. He was arrested, plead guilty, and sentenced to three months in county jail. Evidently, the fellow had in view the securing of a place of lodging until the birds nest, the roses bloom, and the roads settle.

Spelling bees are quite the rage now at country school houses. The honey bees will open up for work as soon as the flowers bloom.
On behalf of the Wayland Fire Department, Chief Keith Happs, and the E.M.R.’s we would like to thank everyone for the success of the “Wild Game Feed” held on January 27th. We are all volunteers and we depend on you for our support. As a Fire Department and E.M.R’s we respond to the needs of the Community. The Clark County R-1 School Board also voted unanimously to modify the recently adopted eight-block schedule. The schedule change was adopted after the board heard concerns from the Fine Arts Booster and other interested parents who felt that an eight-block system might be detrimental to the Clark County band program.
