REDEFINING CURATION IN TODAY’S WORLD.
Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah S.W.T we present you the 5th edition of GESTURZ QUICKNEWS (Jan –
June 2018). If you are reading this from your desk or while munching your favorite kerepek raya, we bet
you will enjoy reading this issue.
We often do the same old comfortable routine at the workplace or home. My weekday routine typically
starts with reading e-mails, and checking my letter box before heading to meetings, then preparing and
finishing my work which the to-do-list unfortunately never seems to end.
In this edition, I shared some pertinent issue and agenda that have been productively discussed and
presented at the Adobe Education Leaders Forum 2017. The event took place at the National University
of Singapore (NUS), and has delegation from the higher learning institutions and industry players of the
Asia Pacific.
In the age of digital, we need to go beyond our comfort zone. Thus, the forum has taken the lead by
addressing “The Business of Education: Creating a World Class University”, as its theme in aiding
varsities in developing a futuristic eco-system through advanced creative technology. Undeniably,
Adobe is a global creative technology leader that revolutionizes how the world engages with ideas and
information.
On a different occasion, we felt so blessed and honored when GESTURZ was given trust to be part
of the 1st Inaugural Meeting of Universitas Civic Moderna (UCM). UCM is an international network for
modern universities committed towards pioneering ways to enhance students’ success and advance
sustainable development through collaboration and shared in intercultural education. Our dedicated
team has been engaged to curate a soft-launching video which was presented to the audience during
the soft-launching event held at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on the May 3rd. The standard of the
curated video remained excellence, despite the time given to complete the task was extremely tight, this
was revealed through very positive commendations by the delegation and presidents of the participating
universities.
The reactions have demonstrated the importance of curation in today’s world. “People will forget what
you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. - Maya
Angelou. The word curate, curator, curatorial, curation and curated are no longer limited to visual arts
or museums use only. At GESTURZ we enrich and broaden the definition by fueling more energy and
dynamism through integrating our content that is now, influential and informative.
Having said that, Yes! We are now 11. On May 24th, we celebrated our 11 years of curating the best
experience for you and in years to come.
Also, during the historic month, the Anugerah Seni MIDF is back again for its 2018 - 2nd cycle. This
year we received 185 artworks from UiTM students. 100 artworks have been shortlisted by the judges
whereas 88 of them were selected for exhibition and the remaining 12 were named as the winners
which consisting of 5 Anugerah Utama and 7 Anugerah Juri. The highlight of the event was held
together with the Iftar ceremony at Menara MIDF Kuala Lumpur.
Life is full of opportunities and possibilities. no matter what challenges get to our feet, we endure to
stay resilient. With the blessing of Ramadhan and Syawal, we remain positive and preserve the great
momentum to curate the best content for our audience. With that, we thank the amazing supporters of
