3. Strengths of the company.
1. Weaknesses of the company.
However, constructing a single SWOT
may not be sufficient if the company
under study has experienced a critical
or traumatic event or if the case covers
a number of years. It may be necessary
to carry out a double or triple SWOT -
one prior to the critical event and one
after it. This will help to highlight strategic change.
One further point in the
use and application of
SWOT analysis should be
noted. Not all factors
located under the
segment headings of
strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and
threats will carry equal weighting. Some will be critical in
that they must be addressed immediately if the organisation
is to survive whilst others are less critical and may be left to
some time in the future before they are dealt with.
