By cancelling McDonald's Big Mac trademark, the court

effectively opened the door for the Irish chain to register the

brand in Europe and expand its business across Great

Britain and continental Europe.

McDonald’s Corp. said it planned to appeal the court

decision and were confident it will be overturned by the

EUIPO Board of Appeals.
