The Recovery





                 On some areas Michels attitude was focused and blunt:



                 Policy?


                 “Survival. I'm a pragmatist. First, the company has to be

                 turned around into profitability.”



                 Ethos?


                 "We have a relatively flat structure. The ethos is to make

                 money. There are no politics -share options are the only
                 means by which managers benefit. It is still small enough

                 to know everything. I rely on people".



                 Structure?


                 "The board deals with board type things. I attend

                 Divisional Meetings of Hotels and Casinos. I visit every

                 unit regularly. I make real visits. I know this business. I
                 question managers and I send the top guys out so that

                 others will give honest answers".


                 Culture?



                 "I have stamped my culture on the place. People will do it

                 my way, even when I am not there.  I don't like memos.
                 I've only written about three since I came here".
