Providing clean drinking water for the children
In 2014 the RNDM sisters ventured into the Khasi Hills to provide education for the many poor children who lived in Mawlumiang in the locality of Mawiawet. They started a school which at the beginning of 2016 had 200 children. The children are provided with a midday meal each day.
The people are very poor and there is no proper water supply. The water in the area is not at all pure and is un t for drinking. Rain water is harvested in a tank and used by all for drinking. A common pond provides all, including the animals, with water for daily use. The nancial assistance given to purify drinking water for the children will prevent disease and death.
HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO IDENTIFY KEY RISKS FACING THE CHARITY?
This is very important. For the reader to understand the challenges facing the charity, there needs to be an explanation of the things that could go wrong and have a material impact, it’s nances and/or its work i.e. the key risks. In addition, once the key risks have been identi ed, it is necessary to explain what actions and/or controls the charity implements in order to mitigate those risks. The reader will only be interested in those overarching risks so avoid
the temptation to go in to detail about small things that actually have no real impact in the greater scheme. For many religious institute charities, the key risks will be similar to those set out below.
