In order to effectively cope with distress, it is important to have a plan ready in case things get worse or more stressful. This worksheet is meant to help you identify signs of stress and make use of skills that help reduce your experience of distress.
1. What events in your life cause you stress? What triggers distress for you?
2. How do you know when you are experiencing stress and distress? What changes for you? How does your body feel? What do you feel like doing?
3. What distractions help you deal with stress? What can you turn to that helps draw your attention away, but doesn’t cause avoidance?
4. What helps you improve difficult moments? What IMPROVE skills can you use when you can’t distract yourself?
5. Which senses can you self soothe with? What helps you feel less stressed?
