Distress Tolerance BRIDGE BURN
*Bridge Burning in DBT is not as most people understand it...
Bridge Burning (BB)—Remove the means or the “bridge” between me & what I want to do. Make it hard to act on what the body is being pulled to do.
What I want to do: Bridge Burning skill use:
      Hurt self or others
   Throw away, give, or lock up items that you could use to hurt yourself or others
 Spend time with friends or family members in a public or shared space

    Take things that are not mine
 Move to a place where you cannot see or touch whatever it is you want
 Ask others to hide or lock up items that are tempting. You can do this too

    Yell, throw things, & rage
   Hide items that you could throw or destroy
 Take a Timeout to leave the argument
 Move to a place where you feel relaxed & calm 
    Hang out with friends who do risky things
 Block phone numbers & usernames on social media
 Don’t hang out with these people
 End the friendship 
